Clement Machacek

Dne 25. října 2019 zemřel ve věku 85 let Clement William Machacek, příslušník letectva Spojených států. Narodil se 28. září 1934 v texaském Granger. Díky rodičům hovořil plynně česky. Do armády USA vstoupil v roce 1953 nejdříve jako enlisted officer a pokračoval později jako commissioned officer. Z tisíců letových hodin ve vzduchu v různých letadlech strávil nejvíce ve strategickém bombardéru B-52. I když byl v důchodovém věku, navštívil mnohokrát Českou republiku a pomáhal příslušníkům AČR s počítači, angličtinou a odbornými leteckými záležitostmi.

Eulogy

I have known Clement for nearly thirty years. We met for the first time at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio in 1991, shortly after he came back from the First Gulf War. At that time I was one of the very first Czech military students at the institute and we soon became close friends. Clement helped not only me, but many other Czech students as well, with English on a regular basis. He also helped us understand and use the newfangled thing called a computer. In fact, he was always there to help us with anything we needed.

I learnt that his parents came from Bohemia and this was the reason that he spoke perfect Czech, in addition to Spanish, Russian, German and Tagalog. He spent most of his life in the military as a flyer, spending thousands of hours in the air all over the world on different planes, mainly the B-52. He took part in many missions abroad, including Vietnam.

For a short period of time he also worked for the Data Point Company as a computer specialist. As a commissioned officer, he was called on to take part in the Kuwait war, where he regularly met soldiers from Czechoslovakia and helped them extensively with everything they needed.

As I previously mentioned, he helped many Czechs during their studies in the USA. But he also provided a great amount of help to Czechs in the Czech Republic. For example, he delivered many lectures about US military culture, military terminology and expressions at the Defense Language Institute in the Czech Republic. He spoke to students in English, which was a very great benefit to them, and he could switch to speaking Czech when needed.

That is why in September 2011 the First Deputy of the Czech Minister of Defense and the First Deputy of the Chief of the General Staff personally awarded him a commemorative medal for his service.

I could not believe it when his son, CW, and his daughter, Charlene, informed me that their father was in a hospital in serious condition. Just two days before that, I skyped with him, and at that time he had just returned from his regular jogging. Unlike many other people at his age, he was fit and mentally bright.

I know he loved his children deeply and talked about them with me continually. This may come as a surprise to you, CW, Charlene and Elizabeth, but I know quite a bit about you both because he was very proud of you and loved to talk about you.

He used to give the majority of the crops from his garden to his neighbors and to a local retirement home. I was with him one time when he delivered his vegetables, and I was surprised that he was older than those who received them and expressed their gratitude.

We used to talk for at least an hour, three to four times a week on Skype. That was our normal. However, when I was on temporary duty in Iraq in 2008, we talked on Skype nearly every day. Those talks helped me to endure the difficult mission there. I must say that there was no area which he would not be able to cover, whether it was science, politics, world economics, literature, linguistics, to name just a few. He was the most knowledgeable man I have ever met.

He also embarrassed me many times. For instance, my wife and my daughter spent three weeks in San Antonio and we visited Sea World. There were many attractions and amusement park rides, such as a roller coaster and other gravity-defying and stomach-churning things that some people call "fun." My daughter asked me to take her on one of these rides, and I said, "No way!" Clement spoke up and said he would accompany her and guide her through this "fun", which he did, to my daughter's delight.

There really are no words to fully express how I will miss him. His lifetime of dedication and self-sacrifice serves as a monument to the exemplary man he was. His integrity, modest life and hard work will continue to inspire those who knew him. He has been my best friend and I will miss him dearly.

•    Jerry W. Nemec-Sullivan from CA, wrote on Dec. 19, 2019:
Dear Jessica and Allison, I would like to add something in addition to what you have aptly expressed. Debbie Asbury left Clement several years ago and did not know about his death until she got spousal death money from the U.S. Social Security Administration. Until that time she was so upset that Clement’s physical and mental condition was in normal good shape, which meant that she was not able to get his money and property that she so voraciously desired. Regardless of her alcoholic periods, or maybe because of them, she continually sent him highly offensive emails and text messages hoping that she could undermine his health. His real family, not Debbie, has been getting condolences from his real friends.
•    Jessica Lavarez wrote on Dec. 18, 2019:
Don't send Debbie Widmer Asbury anything. She will try to take over your life, take your money and destroy your family and reputation. She has made a career of stealing people's money and belongings. Career Criminal. She is extremely mentally ill and in need of psychiatric care/hospitalization. Send any information about her activities to your local FBI agency. She is a person of interest and becoming more interesting as her victims pile up around her.
•    Allison McBride wrote on Dec. 18, 2019:
Debbie Asbury murdered Clement Machacek. She slowly poisoned him with hate for 20 years and he finally succumbed. She has terrorized and is still currently stalking his family. She has done this to many families over the years and steals money from vulnerable elderly men. She is a monster. Beware. Do not send letters of condolence to her or anything else. Send prayers to the families of her victims and hope that your family does not become prey to her predatory ways.

Vzdyt natruc rodine, pohrbu i pietnimu aktu najednou porada po skoro dvou mesicich vlastni rozlouceni s nim a jeste nekde jinde. Neni to nic proti nemu.

Úctyhodný hrdina si zaslouží úctyhodnou vzpomínku a špinavostem té baby můžete klidně obětovat prostor v jiném článku. Tam byste se mohli možná i zmínit o tom, odkud ta baba pocházela.

A bit late to the show.
Officers & gentlemen; a rare breed.
Uz jsem zde kdysi davno tohle psal. Traga ceskeho naroda od Bile hory je odsun prave elity a svedomi naroda do exilu, na sibenice, do satlav, do dolu, ap. O celkove zbabelosti a malosti ani nemluve. E.g., kauza rude bestie bachare Vondrusky, dodnes nepotrestane!

Ale nechme politiky, je Sv. Stepana (2nd day of Christmas). Koukam na bile Skaliste a zde je vse OK.
Lidem dobre vule, Merry Christmas & a happy New year - P.F. 2020

[12]:nechapu proc si kazdy vzpomene na 30ti letou valku, ono to zacalo uz nekde tam kde Premyslovci vyvrazdili Slavnikovce a pokracovalo to Svatym Vaclavem. To oboji bylo v dusledku zrady. Zradu v ceskych dejinach je pak videt snad v kazde udalosti. A to jeste moc nevime o Marobudovi a tom obdobi dejin..... To neni skulioza ale geny.
